Postage and cover
- You arrange and pay for postage. We do not provide a prepaid label.
- Use a tracked service with loss and damage cover suitable for the value of the device.
- Keep your proof of postage and tracking number until the purchase is complete, and email us the tracking number when you send it.
- Send it within the time we agree when you accept. If it arrives much later, we may need to recheck the offer.
Batteries: check before you post
Laptops and phones contain lithium batteries, and carriers restrict how they can be sent. Before posting, check your chosen carrier’s current rules for devices with lithium batteries. Royal Mail and Parcelforce both restrict them, and rules change.
We cannot accept a device by post if its battery is swollen, damaged or subject to a recall. Signs of a swollen battery include a bulging case, a lifting trackpad or a screen being pushed away from the frame. If you notice any of these, stop using and charging the device and tell us before doing anything else.
Packing
- Use a rigid box, not a padded envelope or a soft bag.
- Cushion every side, top and bottom included, so the device cannot move when you shake the box.
- Pack only what we agreed, such as the charger if it is part of the offer. Take out SIM cards, memory cards and any discs.
- Switch the device off completely before packing it.
Photograph the packed device
Before you seal the box, take photos of the device packed inside it, showing the cushioning around it. Email them to us with your reference. They help if anything is damaged on the way.
Before you pack it
Back up your data, sign out of your accounts, remove any activation lock and erase the device if it works. The preparation guide has the steps for Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android.
When it arrives
We check the device against your description and photos, and check proof of ownership and the serial number or IMEI. If it matches, we agree the final price and pay by bank transfer to an account in your name. If it does not, we send you what we found and a revised offer, which you are free to decline. How it works and the device purchase terms explain returns and who pays return postage.
