For plumbers

A leak does not wait for you to be free

When someone has water coming through a ceiling they ring three plumbers and go with whoever answers. Make sure that is you, even when your hands are full.

£8,320 a year, if you miss 2 calls a week on £80 jobs

Your actual Tuesday

You are under a kitchen sink in Sale with a wrench in one hand and a torch in the other. The phone goes. It goes again eight minutes later.

  • The first was a burst pipe two streets away, ready to pay whatever it took.
  • The second was a landlord with six properties looking for a regular plumber.
  • You called both back at half four. One had already been sorted.
  • The landlord never answered, and never rang again.

Emergency work goes to whoever picks up. Not the best plumber, not the cheapest. The one who answered.

Three steps, no jargon

  1. 01

    A free review

A quick look at how calls reach you now and roughly how many go unanswered in a normal week.

  2. 02

    We measure it

Your own job values, not a national figure. Call-outs, boiler work, bathroom installs: whatever your mix is.

  3. 03

    We switch it on

It answers in your words, works out whether it is an emergency, and either books it or gets it to you fast.

What are the calls you miss actually worth?

Put your own average job value in. A call-out and a bathroom install are very different numbers, so use whatever a normal week looks like.

Potentially lost, per year

£23,400

Assumes every one of those callers would have booked, which they would not. Halve it and it is still probably worth a fifteen-minute call.

Questions people actually ask

Can it tell an emergency from a routine job?

Yes, using rules you set. Water coming through a ceiling gets flagged and pushed to you straight away. A quote for a new bathroom can wait until you are out from under the sink.

Will it sound like a robot?

It sounds like a calm, clear person and it says up front that it is an assistant. We would rather be honest than have a customer feel tricked. Most callers simply want to know they have reached the right business and that someone is coming back to them.

Am I tied into a contract?

No. It runs month to month. If it is not paying for itself, tell us and we turn it off. We do not use minimum terms because a service that needs a contract to keep you is not a service worth selling.

I already get work from Checkatrade and word of mouth. Why do I need this?

Because those leads still arrive as a phone call. Checkatrade sends you the enquiry; it does not answer the phone when you are under a sink. This catches the calls those platforms send you and the ones that come direct, which are the ones that cost you nothing in lead fees.

What happens to calls it cannot deal with?

It takes the details and hands them straight to a person, with a summary of what was said. It is not there to keep customers away from you. It is there to stop enquiries evaporating when you cannot pick up.

Do I need a new phone or a new number?

No. It works with the number you already advertise, and there is no new handset. Your number stays yours and you can move it elsewhere at any time.

How long does it take to set up?

Days rather than weeks for a straightforward setup. Most of that time is us learning how you actually talk to customers, which questions you get asked and what you never want an assistant to say.

What we promise, and what we do not

No lock-in

Month to month. If it is not earning its place, tell us and we switch it off. No minimum term and no exit fee.

Your number stays yours

We work with the number you already have. You keep control of it, and you can take it elsewhere whenever you want.

We will tell you if it will not help

If your missed calls are not costing you enough to justify this, we will say so on the review call. We would rather lose the sale than sell you something that sits idle.

A person is always behind it

Anything the assistant cannot handle goes to a human, with the context attached. It never pretends to be something it is not.

We do not promise a number of jobs, and we would be wary of anyone who does. Everything above is a commitment we can actually keep.
