For electricians

You cannot answer the phone with your hands in a consumer unit

So something else answers it, takes the job details properly, and gets it in the diary. You ring back when you are down off the ladder, not after the customer has booked someone else.

£26,000 a year, if you miss 1 call a week on £500 jobs
Manchester PC Services LTD, company 13356970, VAT registered We run these systems in our own business, every day Built and supported from Miles Platting, Manchester

Your actual Tuesday

Board change in a terraced house in Chorlton. Power off, hands full, phone buzzing in your jacket on the stairs. You are not stopping to answer it, and you should not have to.

  • The 11:20 call was a landlord with three EICRs to book.
  • The 13:45 call was a repeat customer with a tripping circuit.
  • By 17:00 both have found someone who picked up.
  • You will never know which one was the £2,000 rewire.

Being good at the work is not the problem. Being reachable while doing the work is.

Three steps, no jargon

  1. 01

    A free review

Fifteen minutes on how calls reach you now, how many you miss in a normal week, and what a typical job is worth to you.

  2. 02

    We measure it

We put your own numbers to it. Domestic call-outs, EICRs, rewires: whatever your mix is, you get an honest figure for what is going missing.

  3. 03

    We switch it on

It answers in your words, asks what you would ask, and never quotes a price you have not approved. Live in days.

What is one missed call a week worth?

Put your own average job value in. Electrical work has a wide spread, from a £90 call-out to a £4,000 rewire, so use whatever a normal week looks like for you.

Potentially lost, per year

£23,400

Assumes every one of those callers would have booked, which they would not. Halve it and it is still probably worth a fifteen-minute call.

Questions people actually ask

Will it try to quote for work?

Not unless you tell it to. By default it gathers what the job is, where it is and when they need it, then hands that to you. Nothing gets priced without you, because you are the one carrying the liability.

Will it sound like a robot?

It sounds like a calm, clear person and it says up front that it is an assistant. We would rather be honest than have a customer feel tricked. Most callers simply want to know they have reached the right business and that someone is coming back to them.

Am I tied into a contract?

No. It runs month to month. If it is not paying for itself, tell us and we turn it off. We do not use minimum terms because a service that needs a contract to keep you is not a service worth selling.

What happens to calls it cannot deal with?

It takes the details and hands them straight to a person, with a summary of what was said. It is not there to keep customers away from you. It is there to stop enquiries evaporating when you cannot pick up.

Do I need a new phone or a new number?

No. It works with the number you already advertise, and there is no new handset. Your number stays yours and you can move it elsewhere at any time.

How long does it take to set up?

Days rather than weeks for a straightforward setup. Most of that time is us learning how you actually talk to customers, which questions you get asked and what you never want an assistant to say.

I already pay for Checkatrade leads. Why add this?

Those leads still arrive as a phone call you cannot take. You are paying for the introduction and then losing it at the last step. This catches those calls and the direct ones that cost you nothing in lead fees.

What we promise, and what we do not

No lock-in

Month to month. If it is not earning its place, tell us and we switch it off. No minimum term and no exit fee.

Your number stays yours

We work with the number you already have. You keep control of it, and you can take it elsewhere whenever you want.

We will tell you if it will not help

If your missed calls are not costing you enough to justify this, we will say so on the review call. We would rather lose the sale than sell you something that sits idle.

A person is always behind it

Anything the assistant cannot handle goes to a human, with the context attached. It never pretends to be something it is not.

We do not promise a number of jobs, and we would be wary of anyone who does. Everything above is a commitment we can actually keep.
